Homecoming 2023

The Unity Walk has become a university tradition! In a showcase of unity across campus, faculty, staff, students, alumni and community members are welcome to join in this event. The Unity Walk will conclude at the Memorial Student Center Plaza with a celebration and the announcement of the 2023 Homecoming Court.

Offices across campus are encouraged to decorate their space using the Homecoming theme Super Marco: Level Up! A tribute to video games throughout the decades, members of the Marshall University Alumni Association board of directors and other volunteers will spend the day visiting these wonderful wonderful offices. Awards will be presented on Friday, Sept. 29, during Party on the Plaza.

A university favorite! Join us for this annual as participants pay $1 to bash the car, painted in Old Dominion’s colors, with a sledgehammer for two minutes. Sledgehammer, gloves and goggles will be provided.

The Huntington Regional Chamber of Commerce is excited to host its 2023 Member Trade Show, presented by Huntington Bank from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, at the Mountain Health Arena Convention Center. As a grander version of the Chamber’s usual Business After Hours, this is a premier opportunity to discover what local businesses and organizations in our community have to offer, and to network and connect with fellow professionals.

The evening will feature networking, food and open bar, raffle prizes and more!

Are you a graduate of the 1973 or 1998 classes? If so, please join us at the Brad D. Smith Foundation Hall, Home of the Erickson Alumni Center, on our beautiful patio for light refreshments at 4 p.m. The classes are then invited to participate in the Homecoming Parade aboard a special Marshall trolley provided courtesy of the Alumni Association at 6 p.m. Seating on the trolley is limited, so reserve your spot today! Additionally, class members are welcome to walk the parade route alongside the trolley, or join us in watching the parade in front of Foundation Hall.

Enjoy all that Downtown Huntington has to offer as we tour some of the city’s best drinks and eats!

Attendees will receive a commemorative Homecoming 2023 glass, sponsored by Jenkins Fenstermaker PLLC. The deadline to register is September 22, so don’t miss out!

Marshall University Black Alumni is pleased to announce its inaugural Black Alumni Hall of Fame at 7 p.m. in the Brad D. Smith Foundation Hall. This event will honor the achievements of 10 of the university’s most esteemed graduates.

Marshall’s newest Homecoming tradition! Alumni and students can enjoy a bonfire with entertainment from the Marching Thunder, Marshall University cheerleaders, plus activities and appearances by Marshall coaches and players!

Dress up and show out in your coolest clothes and flyest sneakers during the Sneaker Ball in the Memorial Student Center Lobby from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. For more information, contact Corey Cunningham at cunningha189@marshall.edu.

The highlight of Homecoming week! ALL are invited to this wonderful tailgating experience, hosted by the Marshall University Alumni Association and Marshall University Black Alumni! Located in the Joan C. Edwards Stadium East Lot (beside the Chris Cline Indoor Athletic Facility), come enjoy great food, hang with friends, play tailgating games, enjoy live music and performances by the Marching Thunder, Marshall University cheerleaders, and appearances by special guests including coaches and players. Don’t miss the famous Marshall Alumni & Family Tailgate in its new location prior to the game!

The Thundering Herd battles Old Dominion University in the annual Homecoming game at Joan C. Edwards Stadium!

Greek life at Marshall will compete in the Greek Stroll-Off Competition, which showcases a team’s agility, creativity and understanding of rhythm and dance as they show precision, synchronization, originality and showmanship. After the game is over, cap off the week at Marshall University Black Alumni’s annual Black Out Alumni Party. There will be a DJ, food and more!
