’80s Echoes: Come Back Curious
Get ready to Come Back Curious! Marshall University’s Homecoming, Sept. 21-26, brings the Herd together for a week packed with traditions, athletic events, tailgating, campus competitions and plenty of Marshall pride!
This year’s theme, “’80s Echoes: Come Back Curious,” celebrates Grand Marshal Joe Chrest, a 1986 Marshall graduate and “Stranger Things” actor, with a nostalgic nod to the mysteries of the ’80s.
Don’t forget to grab your Homecoming apparel before noon Thursday, Sept. 3!

Monday, Sept. 21
The week kicks off at 5 p.m. Monday with the Unity Walk, inviting students, faculty, staff, organizations and community members to march from the Marshall Recreation Center to the Memorial Student Center Plaza in a show of Marshall pride. Following the walk, the Homecoming Court will be announced.
Tuesday, Sept. 22
Marshall Men’s Soccer plays against Eastern Illinois at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday at Hoops Family Field at Veterans Memorial Soccer Complex. Purchase tickets.
Thursday, Sept. 24
The Marshall University Alumni Association will host its annual Office Decorating Contest all day Thursday. Winners will be announced at Party on the Plaza Friday. Fan voting begins at 6 p.m. Thursday and closes 10 a.m. Friday. Check out the @ForMarshallU Facebook page to vote for your favorites!
Women’s Volleyball faces Georgia State at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Cam Henderson Center. Admission is free!
Friday, Sept. 25
Party on the Plaza returns at noon on the Memorial Student Center Plaza with music, food and more. The event is open to students, faculty, staff, alumni and members of the community.
Experience true Homecoming magic during the Homecoming Parade and Bonfire. The parade will start at 6 p.m. in downtown Huntington before heading to campus. After the parade, head to Harless Field for the bonfire celebration. Can’t attend in person? Follow along online at @ForMarshallU and @MarshallU for a live broadcast of the parade.

Marshall University Black Alumni is celebrating 50 years and will host its annual Black Alumni Hall of Fame on Friday at Brad D. Smith Foundation Hall. Click here for more information on MUBA’s Homecoming events.
Saturday, Sept. 26
The Marshall University Alumni Association and Marshall University Black Alumni will host its annual Marshall University Alumni Homecoming Tailgate from 12:30-3 p.m. at the 20th Street Parking Lot (between the Marshall Recreation Center and Sorrell Maintenance Building, 317 20th St.). Reconnect with fellow Herd fans, enjoy music, tailgate games and great company while celebrating Marshall traditions. Your $20 ticket includes food, drinks and special appearances, including Grand Marshal Joe Chrest, a 1986 graduate who portrayed Ted Wheeler in the hit Netflix series “Stranger Things.” Click here to purchase tickets to the tailgate!
Marshall takes on Gardner-Webb at 3:30 p.m. during the Homecoming Game at Joan C. Edwards Stadium. During halftime, Homecoming Royalty will be crowned on the field. Click here to purchase tickets to the game.
Sunday, Sept. 27
Soccer Double Header!
Marshall Women’s Soccer will play against James Madison University at 3 p.m. Sunday at Hoops Family Field at Veterans Memorial Soccer Complex. Purchase tickets.
That same day, the Men’s Soccer team will face off against West Virginia University at 7:15 p.m. at home. Purchase tickets.
