Marshall University Foundation Code of Ethics

As employees of The Marshall University Foundation Inc., we uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct in all aspects of the Foundation’s operations. As a philanthropic organization entrusted with public confidence, we commit to acting with integrity, transparency, honesty and good faith at all times — complying fully with all laws and regulations while avoiding undisclosed actual or potential conflicts of interest.

Personal and Professional Conduct – All staff, board members and volunteers shall represent Marshall University and the Foundation in a manner that reflects positively on the institution and advances its mission and vision.

Responsible Stewardship – We will manage all assets and resources entrusted to the Foundation prudently, ensuring exemplary fiduciary responsibility.

Transparency – We will provide donors and stakeholders with information that is clear, accurate, complete, objective, relevant, and timely.  Read more about our GuideStar Transparency Designation here.

Conflicts of Interest – We will proactively avoid both actual and perceived conflicts of interest in personal and professional relationships.

Good Faith – We will act responsibly and with due care and competence, never misrepresenting material facts or allowing personal judgment to be compromised.

Compliance – We will adhere to the Foundation’s policies and all applicable federal, state and local regulations, as well as the rules of relevant private and public regulatory agencies.

Confidentiality – We will safeguard privacy rights and uphold the confidentiality of sensitive information acquired in the course of our work, ensuring such information is never used for personal gain or disclosed to unauthorized parties.

Organizational Effectiveness – We will continuously improve and share professional knowledge and skills to enhance performance, ultimately serving our donors and constituents more effectively.
